Birth Trauma & Your Baby's Brain (1 hour)
Dr. Pauline talks about how the trauma of many modern birth practices don’t fit the model of normal or necessary trauma of birth. Since the greatest amount of growth for the baby’s brain occurs in the last trimester through about age 2 the negative impact of unnecessary trauma on the neural pathways can have serious impact on the gene expression of your baby’s brain. This can lead to the social/relationship problems we are seeing in many children today. Dr. Pauline will talk about how to prevent the unnecessary trauma, and how attachment parenting can help with the healing of a baby’s brain after it has been traumatized.
