The Dunamas™ Center’s organization vision statement is to be the foremost provider of Christian based premarital and marital counseling, and childbirth and postpartum information, education, and support in the United States using a Christ centered, heart connecting, marriage focused approach. Thereby equipping believers to have a heart connected adventure with Christ and others!

 

To confront the sky-rocketing divorce rate, even within the church, by providing Christ-centered education and support about marriage, childbirth choices, birth preparation and support, and marital and parenting support beginning with premarital counseling, all the way through the postpartum period to anyone seeking our services.

To include counseling and groups for singles, as part of the family of Christ, to learn to be heart connected with Jesus, and better able to function in all relationships within the family.

To train interns interested in doing counseling for couples and individuals using the Christ centered, heart connecting model.

To develop training for individuals and churches on how to establish their own childbirth and postpartum support and education program, in order to better serve young marriages and families, using the Christ centered, heart connecting, marriage focused model.

To partner with churches to provide training, support and education in helping heal the hearts of the people and marriages, childbirth education and parenting.

To provide support and understanding of the value and importance of good nutrition and physical health in being able to accomplish sound spiritual, emotional, and physical health at all phases of life.

 

Recently the divorce rate in the church topped out at over 70%, and the cesarean birth rate in the United States topped 30%. Many young couples are being driven into a postmodern model of marriage and birth which denies the power and presence of God. They are making birth decisions based on fear (either their own, someone else’s, or the medical system’s). This foundation for birthing has driven the posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and postpartum mood disorder (PPMD) rates to an all time high, a negative factor impacting marriages and families today. Based on research conducted by the Dunamas Center founder, Pauline Dillard, Ph.D., the PTSD rate following cesareans is almost 30%, and the depression rates in all new moms has risen from 8-10% in the 1950s to over 22% today. Sadly, Christians are faring no better than anyone else. For every mom who is affected by PTSD or PPMD at least two others are deeply impacted (the dad and the baby), which then impacts the church. It is critical for an organization like the Dunamas™ Center to thrive in order to draw people out of the fear model of marriage and birth, and back to the faith model, which in turn strengthens the foundations of marriages and the church.

 

Dunamas™ Center, a private, Christ centered organization, is emerging as the premier provider of Christ-centered premarital counseling, childbirth education and support, postpartum support, and marriage and parenting support and counseling. The Center promotes marriages starting on the right foundation, and natural childbirth focused on the Lord, which is counter to the New Ageism and evolution based models of the world. The Dunamas Center strives to integrate the dunamas (power) of the Holy Spirit with the physiology of birth and the postpartum period. Dunamas operates as a private company to meet the needs of anyone seeking Christ-centered knowledge and support for marriage, childbirth and parenting which is focused on the heart need of the parents and children, as well as the spiritual and physical. This Biblical model builds strong families for Christ before the childbearing year and beyond.

 

The Dunamas Center now offers premarital counseling, marriage and family counseling, and childbirth preparation classes. We have recently added counseling and classes for single men and women, so they too can have a heart connected adventure with Jesus. We are currently expanding our network of contacts and supporters across the United States. We are seeking support partners to cover the cost of counseling and birth classes for those who are unable to pay. The estimated need for the next year is $50,000 in non-tax deductible donations to our scholarship fund. To date the founder has donated tens of thousands of dollars of her time to meet the needs of the Christian community. She has a burning from the Lord to make sure that all who give of themselves in the center are paid, because the workers are worth their wage (1 Timothy 5:17).
